Anyone can turn things up on the internet. Probily's job is to keep what you turn up connected to its source — so it can be checked, acted on, and cited.

Why Probily exists

Open-source research is powerful, and it is exploding — but its weakest link is trust. Material without provenance can't be published, cited or relied on. Analysts spend hours re-establishing where a value came from, and pages on the web quietly change or disappear.

Probily is built around a single idea: values should carry their sources. Paste an article and you get a structured report where material values link back to the public record they came from — and the source page is captured and hashed, so it can't change underneath you.

What Probily is

A professional source-intelligence workspace. A free, sourced report is the way in; the workspace is where entity cards, connected source records and your own materials come together into private, source-backed dossiers — and, where an entity is eligible and identity-confirmed, a public Dossier. The moat isn't a database — it is the traceability and the review discipline on top of it: entities are resolved against Wikipedia and Wikidata, cross-referenced across open registries — sanctions lists, court archives, corporate registries, leaks and academic records — and everything stays inspectable.

What Probily is not

Probily is not a consumer-reporting agency, and its reports are not “consumer reports.” Do not use them for employment, credit, housing, insurance or other decisions covered by the U.S. Fair Credit Reporting Act. Probily surfaces public open-source records with their provenance — it does not make eligibility decisions about people, and it does not render verdicts.
