Probily Public beta
Security & data

Security and data handling, plainly stated.

Probily works from the open, public record — and holds your account to the same standard we hold a report to: show where everything comes from, and flag it if it later changes.

Public sources only Captured & fingerprinted Paddle · Merchant of Record GDPR rights honoured
Open by design

Public sources only

Probily reads open, public registries and the article you give it. It does not buy private dossiers or broker personal data.

Tamper-evident

Captured, not trusted

Cited pages are archived and fingerprinted at report time, so if a source is later edited or removed, the change is visible and the archived copy remains.

Payments

No card data

Billing runs through Paddle as Merchant of Record. Card details never reach our servers — we can’t see or store them.

Evidence

Evidence, captured so changes are visible.

When a report cites a page, Probily fetches it, submits it to the Wayback Machine, and records a fingerprint of what was captured. If the page is later edited or taken down, the archived copy still shows the version the report cited.

1 · Fetch

When a report cites a page, Probily fetches that page at report time — the exact version being cited, not a later edit.

2 · Archive

The page is submitted to the Wayback Machine, so an independent archived copy exists outside Probily.

3 · Fingerprint

A one-way summary of the captured bytes is recorded. If the source later edits or removes the page, the mismatch is visible — and the archived copy remains.

There is no staged example here on purpose: every citation in a live report carries its own real capture. Open the example Report and follow any source link to see it working.
How it works

Your data, end to end.

The short version of what we store, why, and for how long. The full detail lives in the privacy policy.

What we store

Your account details, basic usage and diagnostics, and the article URLs you submit. Nothing about the report subjects beyond what the public record already holds.

Source capture

At report time the source page is fetched and archived to the Wayback Machine, so your citations point at the version you actually read — not a later edit.

Integrity

Each capture is fingerprinted from the archived bytes. If a page changes or disappears later, the fingerprint still ties your evidence to what was there. Any report's ID can be checked at /verify — a public authenticity check that confirms a genuine Probily report and when it was generated.

Retention

Account data is kept while your account is active and briefly after, for legal and accounting needs. You can delete reports from your workspace at any time.

Payments

Processed by Paddle, our Merchant of Record. Paddle handles billing, tax and receipts; card data never touches our servers.

Subprocessors

A small, documented set — Paddle (payments), our hosting provider, and the Internet Archive (source capture). Listed in the privacy policy.

Your rights (GDPR)

Access, correction, deletion, portability and objection — subject to your jurisdiction. Email support@probily.tech and we respond within the legal window.

A boundary, stated plainly

Probily is not a consumer-reporting agency, and its reports are not "consumer reports." Do not use Probily for FCRA-covered decisions — employment, credit, housing or insurance eligibility. Probily surfaces public signals with their provenance; it does not render verdicts about people.

Responsible disclosure

Found something? Tell us — we’ll credit good-faith reports.

We acknowledge, look into it, and keep you in the loop. Please give us a reasonable window to fix before disclosing publicly.
